Use Your HSA or FSA Funds for Vision Care Needs

If you have funds in a Health Savings Account (HSA) or a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) now is a good time to take note of any vision care needs, especially if you have FSA money, which typically expires at the end of the year.

While HSA funds usually roll over every year, FSA funds are a use-it-or-lose-it kind of benefit and won’t carry over to 2024.

Most FSAs and HSAs cover several vision care items such as:

  • Prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses
  • Reading glasses
  • Contact lenses (not including non-prescription contacts)
  • Contact solution
  • Eye exams and appointments
  • Eye drops
  • Eye surgeries and procedures including LASIK, cataracts, and glaucoma laser treatment

Always check with your FSA or HSA provider or your employer’s human resources department for exact coverage details.

If you’re interested in new glasses or contacts, or would like more information about a surgical treatment, contact us to make an appointment via phone at 319-362-3937 or use our online form.
